[Nick's concern is valid, just as Ravine has had similar thoughts as well. She can think of particularly one person on the top of her head that she would not want to see interacting with the Door, should it prove to be a thinking, feeling thing.
[She nods.]
Very well. I shall try.
[With that, she steps away from Nick, having never seated herself in the first place.
[From the way she vanishes, it becomes an answer in itself just why she opts to appear in ways that people are unable to see her coming. What little color she shows fades into one black mass that vaguely represent a humanoid shape, with ebony tendrils wafting from her form like smoke. Her human-shaped brown eyes warp into a pair of pure gold that glow in the walking shadow that she is.
[And in a sound much like a sigh, she is gone, leaving Nick by his lonesome in his office to wait.
[And wait.
[And wait.
[And wait some more.]
...
[Until a crackle can be heard from the darkest corner of the room. The shadows move again, and Ravine stumbles out. Black smoke billows from her body even as she materializes as the woman she presents herself every other time -- from her hair, her eyes, ears, coat. It is liken to the vapors rising from asphalt after a warm, rainy day, just black in hue as the rest of her.
[Her eyes remain that shade of ominous gold when she stands before Nick again, a gloved hand over her head.]
I would not recommend doing that again for anyone.
[Despite the obvious discomfort, she smiles, the last of the smoke dissipating from her face.]
[Though he'd expected -- and hoped, frankly -- she wouldn't be able to reach the ninth god, Nick is surprised by how Ravine returns, concern etching into him as they take in all the smoke and vapors.]
You gonna be all right?
[Curious as he may be, the well-being of others comes first.]
[After a few failed attempts, the effort had worn on Ravine somewhat.
[Fortunately, this spells good news that those who think they can make it down there will likely not find the trip so easy as well, and Ravine knows that she is more capable than most. It's just where she applies those capabilities that matter.]
[It is what it is. Ravine doesn't see the point in dwelling on something that will heal soon enough. Nick didn't pressure her to try more than once, but she did, and that's on her.]
Not without putting all the pieces into place, that is.
[She is referring to the "fragments" Name had mentioned.]
[Ravine has intervened enough. Any more and she may have to be considered more involved than she wants to be.]
Although I cannot lie, I would enjoy seeing a couple of those who think they can just pop down to the Door, now that I know what happens. It would certainly harm them more than me. [Ha. Haha.]
I'm betting a few will try, but you know what they say about holding a cat by the tail.
[And frankly, there are a lot of foolhardy people in Hadriel. At least some of those who might just teleport down there will be deterred for a while. That puts most of them on equal footing.]
You learn things you cannot learn any other way. [Nick's reference does not go over Ravine's head.] I am aware.
[Not everyone does, though. That is something she will allow them to discover on their own, should they question her experience for one reason or another.
[Then, she grins.] You do not need to speak of debts with me, Nick. My curiosity is sated as much as yours.

[Ravine might be an unusual individual, but Nick doubts she's the only one who could reach that room if given the opportunity.]

It is nothing I cannot recover from.
[Thanks for asking though, Nick.]

Guess we don't have to worry about just anyone getting down there.

Hm. Now the problem is who finds those pieces first, and what they do with them.
[And he doesn't doubt that's going to be a brand new set of problems.]

Thanks for the help, Ravine. I owe you one.
